Standouts in this museum of local relics include a section dedicated to the Xia (2200-1700 B.C.) and Shang dynasties (1700-1100 B.C.), with an emphasis on items excavated at Erlitou (an important Shang site 30km/18 miles east of Luoyang), including jade, bronzes, and pottery artifacts; Han dynasty exhibits of painted pottery and tomb frescoes; and some fine Tang dynasty glazed pottery.
