Tour Itinerary

Day 1   ORIENTAL PEARL TV TOWER, PEOPLE'S SQUARE, THE BUND, NANJING ROAD, SHANGHAI MUSEUM SHANGHAI URBAN PLANNING EXHIBITION CENTER

Start the day touring the Oriental Pearl TV Tower to get a bird-view of Shanghai from the tower, People's Square, Shanghai Museum and Shanghai City Planning Exhibition Center. And then, enjoy lunch. This afternoon, drive to
The Bund for some great views of the futuristic Pudong area and Nanjing Road for a spot of shopping. You can choose the Acrobatic Show as optional at night.   (L)

Highlights

Oriental Pearl TV Tower: (pinyin: dong fang ming zhu)
Oriental Pearl TV Tower was built in 1994 at a height of 468m (1,550 ft.), it is hailed as the tallest TV tower in Asia and the third tallest in the world. Visit for the stunning panoramas of Shanghai (when the clouds and smog decide to cooperate) and the stellar Shanghai Municipal History Museum located in the basement.

People’s Square:
People's Square (pinyin: Rénmín Guǎngchǎng; ) is a large public square just off of Nanjing Road in the Huangpu District of Shanghai, China. People's Square is the site of Shanghai's municipal government building, and is used as the standard reference point for measurement of distance in the Shanghai municipality.

The Bund:
The Bund (pinyin: Wàitān) is an area of Huangpu District in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. The area centres on a section of Zhongshan Road (East-1 Zhongshan Road) within the former Shanghai International Settlement, which runs along the western bank of the Huangpu River, facing Pudong, in the eastern part of Huangpu District. The Bund usually refers to the buildings and wharves on this section of the road, as well as some adjacent areas.

Nanjing Road:
Nanjing Road (pinyin: Nánjīng Lù) is the main shopping street of Shanghai, China, one of the world's busiest shopping streets.[citation needed] In a broad sense, Nanjing Road includes East-Nanjing Road and West-Nanjing Road, while in narrow sense, it only refers to the Nanjing Road before 1945 (today’s East-Nanjing Road), which is pedestrianized. Prior to 1949, the road's English name was rendered "Nanking Road" using the standard romanization of the time.

Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center: Filmmakers and science-fiction writers have imagined it, but if you want to see what a city of the future is really going to look like, take yourself over to this museum on the eastern end of People's Square.
Shanghai City Planning Exhibition Center housed in a striking modern five-story building made of microlite glass, this is one of the world's largest showcases of urban development and is much more interesting than its dry name suggests.
